Sheltered Shoot

This week I spent 3 days at a house in Elwood for the ‘Sheltered’ shoot. We did things like run coffee and eat snags, but we also boomed, operated the mixer and logged the takes while the film crew filmed.

Most of the shots were stationary, so it was easy to move the boom into position and record a clear take, but there were a few fast moving shots that required some practice to nail the right movement to get the clearest sound while avoiding getting the boom or shadows in frame and bumping into the actors or crew.
As the house we were shooting in is pretty old and small, some of the rooms were super tight and we had to really coordinate what we were doing to avoid getting in each others way, and many people had to wait outside the room we were filming in.

I believe that the director Dale is happy with our work so far, as he’s asked us to come along for another shoot in a month’s time or so.
